Rattan care guide

Rattan is a living material, derived from a fast-growing climbing palm, valued for its durability, flexibility, and natural lightness. When crafted by hand, it bears the marks of both the fiber and the artisan.

Small variations in tone, weave, texture, and form are a natural part of this process. These are not flaws; they are the natural hallmarks of handcrafted production and organic material.

Each piece is shaped using traditional weaving techniques that highlight rattan's natural texture. Stronger rattan elements provide structure to the product, while finer fibers are carefully woven to create surface detail, rhythm, and form.

A NATURAL MATERIAL

Rattan may show slight variations in color tone, fiber structure, weave density, surface texture, and dimensions. Over time, slight changes in tone or texture may occur due to light, humidity, and use.

These characteristics are part of the natural material and the handcrafted production process.

Daily Care

Rattan does not require intensive care. Gentle and regular maintenance is sufficient to keep the surface clean and the weave in good condition.

Regularly dust with a soft, dry cloth, a duster, or a soft brush. For light cleaning, you can use a slightly damp cloth, then dry the surface with a dry cloth. Clean following the direction of the weave whenever possible.

Avoid washing the product, submerging it in water, cleaning with excessive water, using harsh chemicals, bleach, alcohol-based products, abrasive creams, and stiff brushes.

Light, Heat, and Humidity

As rattan is a natural fiber, it reacts to the conditions of its environment. Balanced indoor conditions help maintain the material's flexibility and form.

Do not expose to direct sunlight for extended periods. This can lead to fading, drying, or brittleness of the fibers over time. Position away from sources of intense heat or dry air such as radiators, fireplaces, stoves, and strong air conditioning vents.

Protect from high humidity, wet floors, damp rooms, and outdoor conditions. If the surface gets wet, dry it immediately with a clean and dry cloth.

For Furniture Products

Use rattan side tables, stools, consoles, serving tables, and similar furniture products on a flat and stable surface.

When moving the product, lift it instead of dragging it. Use coasters, trays, felt pads, or protective surfaces under hot, wet, or heavy objects. For designs with glass tops, lift the glass instead of sliding it to reposition it on the rattan surface.

Avoid standing, jumping, or applying concentrated weight on a single point of woven surfaces. Do not force foldable, wheeled, removable, or moving parts.

For Service and Decor Products

Dry use is recommended for rattan trays, placemats, baskets, boxes, candle holders, and decorative objects.

After use, wipe trays and placemats with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not wash, immerse in water, or put in the dishwasher. Do not place hot pots, pans, or dishes directly from the oven onto the rattan surface.

Store trays and placemats as flat as possible. Avoid heavy or unbalanced loads on trays. Do not overfill baskets and boxes; do not carry them by pulling from a single point.

When using candle holders, ensure that the open flame does not come into direct contact with the rattan surface and do not leave burning candles unattended.
